Faster, pussycat! Kill! Kill!

One of the things that our research at Lajuma aims to determine is how the behaviour of primates is influenced by different factors. For example what is has the strongest influence on primate ranging and foraging behaviour: finding food or trying to avoid becoming food?  We are also investigating the diet of the carnivores at Lajuma, and trying to determine the extent to which carnivores feed on domestic livestock and on various species of wild animals.

This week we picked up some images from our camera traps that encapsulated both the primate and the predator strands of our research. CC, the adult female leopard you recently saw mating, was carrying a vervet monkey kill.  Hope you enjoy these great pictures as much as we did!
